The Petition

We would like to say a big thank you to the people who signed the Climate Petition, partnered with the UN Seal The Deal campaign.

The recent ICA resolution on climate action along with the signatures of over 3000 co-operators, has given the co-operative movement a voice to build on.

Co-operatives Europe, ACT!, will be working hard to ensure that this voice is heard by the world’s politicians and that co-operatives are at the forefront of any future climate action.

The Co-operative Climate Voice

The Copenhagen climate petition will now become ‘the co-operative climate voice’, a chance for co-operators to sign up in a show of support towards co-operative action for a sustainable climate. As we develop the case study section of this website, we hope that a mass show of support from individual co-operators will add further evidence, to the view that co-operatives are a fundamentally different way of doing business and that they can be part of a solution to climate change.

Former UN General Secretary, Kofi Anan says:

"Climate change is the greatest emerging challenge of our time,

causing suffering to hundreds of millions of people"

Co-operators hereby call for co-operatives to take a lead in creating a sustainable climate.
